ZUMRO Inc. uses various fabrics for the construction of the shelters.

The fabrics are selected based on the following criteria;

* Ability to Decontaminate

* Air-Retention

* Chemical Resistance

* Durability

* Lightweight

* Longevity

* Strength

* Weather Resistance

ZUMRO Shelters consist of three basic parts. Below is an outline discussing the section parts and the materials that are used;

1) AIRFRAME - This fabric has an oxford weave rip-stop (6oz./sq. yrd) base that is then liquid coated on both sides with synthetic, chemical resistant Neoprene Rubber. Total fabric weight is 17oz./sq. yrd. It meets or exceeds Military and US Coast Guard standards. The combination of this state-of-the-art material have made the ZUMRO airframe one of the most air-holding inflatables in the world. Although our instructions recommend that the structure is "topped-off" every 24 hours, you can expect average deployment time of weeks, maybe months, without need of inflation. The incredible air-retention capability and extreme low-pressure requirement (less than 1pd/sq in.) make the ZUMRO shelter frame the best you can buy.

2) CANOPY - The canopy fabric is designed to be lightweight and easy to decontaminate. The fabric consists of 4-mil Polyurethane film that is laminated to a 3.5oz./sq. yrd Nylon. This fabric is strong, mildew and fire resistant. The exterior Nylon has a water repellant coating and UV inhibitors. The interior urethane film is white to enhance light reflection. The optional interior compartments and shower stalls are made with the fabric as well. We use "white on white" fabric unless requested otherwise. Tests show no deterioration of this fabric when repeatedly washed with a 5% bleach solution.

3) FLOOR - The floor fabric is a black, 22 oz. /sq. yrd Vinyl. The fabric is Nylon reinforced and treated for mildew and UV resistance. Experience has shown that this fabric is ideal for floor material and has excellent wear resistance. ZUMRO Shelter floors are removable; therefore the floor is field replaceable. This design also allows the Shelter to be moved independent of the floor or it can be placed over something (like a trench or a vehicle) adding to the versatility of the product.
